Honduras has been privileged with an extraordinary natural and cultural heritage. Beaches of incomparable beauty, lush nature, colonial cities and living cultures.  Honduras has approximately 8.6 million inhabitants, of whom approximately 88% speak Spanish as their mother tongue.  The surface land area of Honduras is approximately 112,492 km² or 43,433 mi².  

It is strategically located in the heart of Central America surrounded by tropical mountains, which affects her to a variety of climates.  To the North it is limited with the Caribbean Sea, offering a wide range of beautiful beaches, mild climate, and friendly people.  A short distance from the coast, lies the Department of Islas de la Bahia, which has three islands, Guanaja, Utila and Roatan, all of them surrounded by the world's second largest coral reef.  To the south, the country is bounded by the Pacific Ocean and El Salvador, to the west by Guatemala, and to the east by Nicaragua.  The Department of Copán, considered as the Athens of the Mayan civilization located in the West.
